Customer Policy & Warranty Guide
This section outlines YD Hardwood Floors USA Inc.’s terms regarding sales, returns, installation, working contracts, labor warranties, and customer responsibilities.
1. Sales Policy
- Returned checks incur a $35 processing fee.
- Free design services are provided, but YD Company is not responsible for incorrect measurements provided by the customer.
- YD Hardwood Floors is not liable for any installation issues unless installation was performed by us, or the product has a manufacturer defect.
- All products must be inspected at delivery. Do not sign for damaged goods. No claims will be
honored once the freight bill is signed without a damage report.
- Customers must inspect flooring (color, grain, knots, mineral streaks, gloss level) before leaving
the warehouse.
- Upon installation completion, YD Hardwood Floors will only address installation issues reported
within 1 week.
- All payment is required before installation begins.
2. Return Policy
- 25% restocking fee applies to all returnable items.
- No returns or exchanges for: Assembled cabinets, Final sale items, Special orders (flooring,
stain, molding, stair nosing), Open boxes
- Customers must inspect flooring characteristics before warehouse departure.
3. Working Contract Policy
- Party A (YD Hardwood Floors) is responsible for installation if choose to pay the installation fee.
- Party B (customer) is responsible for: material & labor payment upon job completion, moving
furniture/appliances and removing existing flooring, providing restroom access for installers,
covering costs related to delays or lack of site readiness.
- YD Hardwood Floors is not responsible for minor dust, adhesive residue, or scuffs from standard
work or normal expansion/contraction of wood.
- Legal jurisdiction for disputes is the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, specifically Philadelphia
County.
- In legal disputes, the prevailing party is entitled to attorney fees and legal costs.
4. Installation Instructions
- Accepted Methods: Glue-down, nail-down, and staple-down methods; floating installation only for
planks 5” or wider.
- Eligible Wood Species: Acacia, Hickory, Elm, Oak, Eucalyptus, Birch.
- Oil-Finished Floors: Must apply WOCA Refresher immediately after installation.
- Installer Responsibilities: Follow NWFA guidelines, inspect all material, shuffle boards for
consistency, and avoid installing defective boards.
5. Pre-Installation Requirements
- Floors must be acclimated for at least 72 hours.
- Maintain 60–70°F, 40–60% humidity for 1 week before installation.
- Store boxes unopened and raised off the floor.
- Understand regional humidity variations and maintain climate control throughout the year.
6. Radiant Heat Installation Guidelines
- Floor surface temperature must not exceed 85°F.
- Heating system must be operational for 21 days before installation.
- Turn system off 24 hours before, during, and after installation.
- Only structural and pre-installation warranties apply to radiant heat.
- Subfloors must be properly constructed and tested for moisture and pressure.
7. Dust Control & Cleaning Disclaimer
- Standard flooring services may produce dust.
- $0.50/sq ft fee applies for advanced dust-control and cleanup.
- Without this service, final cleaning is the customer's responsibility.
8. Installation Warranty – Labor Only
- 1-year warranty on labor for installations by YD’s in-house team.
- Covers: Loose boards from improper fastening, gapping or misalignment, poor transitions.
- Does NOT cover: Product defects, environmental damage, third-party installations, improper use.
9. Warranty Exclusions
- Not covered: Normal wood characteristics, wear from pets/furniture/debris, water damage, UV
damage, cleaning product misuse, moisture damage, insect infestation post-delivery.
- B-grade/Cabin grade items are excluded.
- Color aging is natural. Replacements may not match.
- Installed defective boards void coverage.
10. Claims Process
- Claims must be submitted in writing within 30 days of issue detection.
- Submit to the original retailer.
- YD reserves right to inspect product and site.
11. Legal Disclaimer
- No liability for incidental/consequential damages.
- No implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.
- Sole remedy: Repair, replacement, or refinishing.
- Labor only covered under 1-year installation warranty if performed by YD.
